PilviTalkkari is TaskuTalkkari's cloud service: it backs up your home's data, keeps it up to date across several devices and makes it possible to share the home. This page explains what the cloud does, where your data is kept and how to get it back if your phone changes or is lost.
Works on the device first
The TaskuTalkkari mobile app always works without an account and without the cloud. All your data is stored first on your own phone (offline-first) — even in flight mode. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud until you activate PilviTalkkari. So you can use the app entirely locally if you want to keep your data on the device only. Once PilviTalkkari is activated, syncing happens in the background whenever a network connection is available.
What PilviTalkkari does
- Automatic backup — your home's data is copied to the cloud in the background, so it does not disappear along with your phone.
- Sync between devices — log in with the same account on another device, and changes appear on both.
- Shared homes — invite a family member or partner to manage the same home.
- Cloud files — photos and PDFs (receipts, warranties, manuals) stored safely in the cloud.
- Trash and Vault — restore items deleted by accident and lock irreplaceable documents into long-term archive.
What gets backed up
After activation, your home's entire contents are backed up to the cloud:
- Homes and their basic details
- Devices, maintenance tasks and event history
- Documents and receipts (photos and PDFs)
- Energy readings, the long-term plan (PTS), contacts and spare parts
Cloud storage is 20 GB per home owner (50 MB per file at most).
Where your data is kept
Your home's data, files and account are stored and encrypted on servers located in the EU — including in transit. Logging in protects access, and files are available only to you and the people you share the home with. Some support services — system emails, subscription management and push notifications — process limited data, such as an email address or device identifier, outside the EU. These processors and the grounds for the transfers are listed in the privacy policy.
New or lost phone – how to restore your data
If you change phones or your phone is lost, your data has not gone anywhere:
- Install TaskuTalkkari on the new device.
- Log in with the same account you used to activate PilviTalkkari.
- Your data is restored from the cloud automatically. You can also start the restore manually with the Restore from cloud action.
The restore brings back your home, devices, tasks, history and the files saved in the cloud. Let the sync finish on the first login before you make major changes.
Multiple devices at once
You can use the same account on, for example, your phone and tablet. Changes made on one device sync to the other in the background, and the same home stays up to date across all your devices. The service is also available as a browser version.
Shared home and the cloud
- Sync for a shared home works when the home's owner has PilviTalkkari active.
- A member who joins by invitation gets full cloud use of the same home without their own subscription.
- Accepting the invitation requires a verified email address.
More about sharing and roles is in the FAQ.
Trash and Vault
- Trash keeps deleted items and homes for 30 days — you get them back with a single tap.
- Vault is for irreplaceable documents (a deed of sale, mortgage deeds, an estate inventory deed). The selected file is copied to a separate cold archive in the EU and locked for 10 years (renewable). The lock cannot be lifted from the app: you cannot delete or change the archived file yourself, so confirm carefully. Deleting your account also removes the files archived in Vault, though with a 30-day delay — see deleting your account and data. Your original file stays normally accessible; retrieving the archived copy from Vault takes, because of the cold archive, anywhere from minutes to about a day. Using Vault is an action for the home's owner.
Beta, activation and price
PilviTalkkari is currently in beta and free to activate. You turn it on from the app's Subscription view by pressing Activate PilviTalkkari — only then does your data start backing up to the cloud.
- The beta will not automatically switch to a paid version.
- Continuing after the beta period requires a separate subscription through the app store.
- Planned price later: €1.49/month or €9.99/year.
Frequently asked questions
I can't see my data on another device. Why?
Make sure you are logged in with the same account, that PilviTalkkari is activated and that the device has an internet connection. In a shared home, syncing requires that the home's owner has PilviTalkkari active.
What happens if I don't activate PilviTalkkari?
The app works normally, but your data stays only on this device and is not backed up. If the phone is lost, the data cannot be restored.
Is my data safe?
Your home's data and files are stored and encrypted on servers in the EU, including in transit, and access is protected by login. Limited support data is also processed outside the EU; see the privacy policy.
